MBB Friends of the Brand

Sofie Formica

In 2014, television personality Sofie Formica was welcomed as the first female Brand Ambassador at Mercedes-Benz Brisbane. Sofie has forged a career as a television personality, producer, marketer and adviser for more than twenty years. She is an outstanding member of the Brisbane community and serves as a passionate advocate for person and environmental wellbeing.

In 1995 Sofie took her career international and in this time was handpicked by Oprah Winfrey to co-host and technology mentor a 13-part television series for the Oxygen television network in the United States. After returning to Australia and a short hiatus, Sofie has now become the longest-running host on ‘Great Day Out'.

Sofie’s innate ability to command a room, her kind spirit and long-running entrepreneurial background have allowed her to fit in seamlessly to the Mercedes-Benz Brisbane family. As always we are thrilled to be working with such a wonderful ambassador for our company.

Kevin Walters

We are thrilled to welcome current Queensland State of Origin Head Coach Kevin Walters to the Mercedes-Benz Brisbane family. As MBB’s newest ‘Friend of the Brand’, Kevin will be our sole ambassador for the highly-anticipated Mercedes-Benz X-Class Ute.

A highly-respected member of the Australian Rugby League community, Kevin’s playing career spanned over 14 years, beginning in Canberra in 1987, when he won his first Premiership, as well as NRL Rookie of the Year. Throughout his playing career, Walters’ won five Queensland Premierships alone, a State of Origin series and earned multiple Test caps for the Australian Kangaroos, culminating in a World Cup win in 1992.

In 2000, he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia’s standing in the sport of rugby league and was a part of the inaugural class inducted into the Brisbane Broncos Hall of Fame.

His coaching career began in Toowoomba in 2001, followed by Ipswich and then internationally to France where he coached U.K Super League team Catalans Dragons. Kevin returned to Australia in 2011, where he worked as an assistant at the Melbourne Storm and then as a halves coach at the Brisbane Broncos.

In 2015, he was appointed Assistant Coach at the Broncos and at the conclusion of this season, was named Head Coach of the Queensland Maroons State of Origin Team. Kevin found immediate success in his role as Origin Head Coach, overhauling the team and leading them to win back-to-back series in his first years at the helm, a feat unseen since 2007.

As one of Queensland’s greatest and most beloved Rugby League figures, it is quite fitting that we bring Kevin on-board for 2018. Some of Kevin’s greatest assets throughout his career have been his drive, performance and impeccable growth, something that aligns perfectly with the Mercedes-Benz Brisbane brand.
