Act for Kids - Challenge New Zealand

05.07.2016

Since 2009, Mercedes-Benz Brisbane has been a proud sponsor of charity Act For Kids, providing funds for Integrated Therapy Services for children who have been the victims of abuse and neglect.
This year in November, our Dealer Principal, Shane Parkins, will take part in an 8-day trek and charity challenge for Act For Kids in New Zealand. With a goal to raise $30,000, Shane will conquer not one, but two 2000m peaks, exploring remote lake and valley systems from Lake Tekapo to Ohau Wanaka in the Southern Alps.
For 28 years, Act For Kids have provided an array of free services to families in need. Their specialist teams work tirelessly to provide therapy, family intervention services, education and residential services to those who need it.
Shane is "inspired by the work of Act For Kids and wanted to support them by raising money as part of my participation in Challenge New Zealand;" he says, "the more people that know about their cause, the greater impact it will have on the children and families they support."
Headed by C.E.O Dr Neil Carrington, the charity boasts 22 centres and over 300 staff nationally, allowing them to help over 15,000 children and their families annually. However, with over 40,844 children in Australia suffering from child abuse each year, the need for such services is more in demand than ever.
